Towards a Spatial Archaeology of Crafting Landscapes

چکیده
Discussions of spatial relationships are persistent features research on the organization craft production. Despite centrality issues, correspondence between patterning and economic remains relatively under-theorized, especially around questions power control. Drawing from literature ecology, specialization landscape archaeology, I develop an approach that considers scales patterning, projection elites institutions articulation elements crafting landscape. This recognizes complex sets factors affecting ultimately produces a more robust understanding how ancient systems were organized. These ideas explored through case study Late Bronze Early Iron Age metal production in Caucasus, clarifying organizational logics economy highlighting this industry differed significant ways other contemporary metal-producing regions Near East.

The Archaeology of Urban Landscapes
Urban centers have inner and outer landscapes whose physical remains can be read as the materialization of social, political, economic, and ritual interactions. Inner landscapes are manifested in architecture and spatial organizations that configure relationships on the basis of economic status, ethnicity, occupation, age grade, and gender within the city. Outer landscapes are composed of the h...
متن کاملTowards a virtual archaeology
There is a long tradition of recording archaeological contexts. Early accounts are typically a bald statement of the kind: 'a Roman floor was found.' Later, longer textual descriptions appear. The correctness and truth of the observation or interpretation was confirmed by the personal standing of the reporter (cf. Hodder 1989). The more cautious added weight to their view by including another e...
متن کاملTowards a Tactical Media Archaeology
Algorithms have effects and play an increasingly determining role in our lives— from the inner workings of financial capitalism to decisionmaking processes in everyday circumstances. They are controlling the tiny microsounds of Curtis Roads and the minute generative drum structures from Autechre, but algorithms also provide structure to the 1000yearlong composition Longplayer by Jem Finer and J...
متن کاملTowards Lunar Archaeology
Our Moon is a potential indicator of a possible alien presence near the Earth at some time during the past 4 billion years. To ascertain the presence of alien artifacts, a survey for ruinlike formations on the Moon has been carried out as a precursor to lunar archaeology. Computer algorithms for semi-automatic, archaeological photo-reconnaissance are discussed. About 80,000 Clementine lunar orb...
متن کاملTowards Crafting Text Adversarial Samples
Adversarial samples are strategically modified samples, which are crafted with the purpose of fooling a classifier at hand. An attacker introduces specially crafted adversarial samples to a deployed classifier, which are being mis-classified by the classifier. However, the samples are perceived to be drawn from entirely different classes and thus it becomes hard to detect the adversarial sample...
